Reus and its setting

Reus has 100,000 inhabitants and boasts modern infrastructures, an excellent commercial offer and a high standard of living. Its origins date back to the 12th Century. In the 18th Century it experienced a major demographic growth and became the second most important city in Catalonia.

MODERNIST REUS

Reus Modernista

One of Reus' main attractions is its Modernist heritage. This architectural style is reflected in numerous buildings. To help people to learn about the city's historic heritage, the Reus Modernist Route has been created, mapping a pleasant stroll through the city centre, where shopping and recreational areas are concentrated, all of them clearly indicated, and where the buildings are identified with a plaque that denotes the most interesting modernist facades of the city.
Lluís Domènech i Montaner, his son Pere Domènech i Roura, Joan Rubió i Bellver, influenced by Gaudí's style, and Pere Caselles, the Reus-born municipal architect who had collaborated with Domènech i Montaner in the construction of the Pere Mata Institute, are the main names in epochal architecture of Reus.
The Casa Navàs and Pere Mata Institute – with its Pavelló dels Distingits– are two of the most emblematic buildings on the Modernist Route
